CARBON FOOTPRINT
"Your contribution to global warming"
Yep! The amount of Green House Gases (GHG) released into the atmosphere by your daily activities directly or indirectly is what is referred to as your carbon footprint. Of all these gases, Carbon dioxide is the most prominent gas as it makes up about 76% of the total GHG with an estimated emission rate of 32,000 Million Metric tons of Co2 as at 2020 and is projected to go above 35,000 Million Metric tons by 2030. So how do you contribute to these millions you may ask?
ENERGY PER CAPITA
This project would be focusing on the per capita footprint of a houshold by converting the energy consumption of thehousehold to its CO2e and dividing it by the total household members. Then comparing it to the average of carbon footprint of the individuals country to give an overall comparison of their footprint. Just as there are different activities that make up our carbon footprints, these activities can be further grouped into sectors which are
- Energy (73.2%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and land use (18.4%)
- Waste (3.2%)
- Industry (5.2%)
